Shadow Granted Dormancy for 2026-27 Season

(St. Louis, MI) – June 16, 2026 – The Michigan Independence Hockey League (MIHL) announced today that it has approved a request from the Shadow organization for dormancy during the 2026-27 season, with the club expressing its intent to return to league play for the 2027-28 season.

The decision was made following discussions between league officials and team ownership regarding the long-term stability and success of the franchise. The organization cited the need to reorganize operations and strengthen its foundation to ensure a more sustainable future both on and off the ice.

"We appreciate the Shadow ownership group's transparency throughout this process," said MIHL Commissioner Scott Brand. "Granting dormancy allows the organization the time necessary to address operational matters and position itself for long-term success. We remain supportive of their efforts and look forward to working with them as they pursue a return for the 2027-28 season."

Under league rules, the Shadow will retain its rights as a member organization during the dormancy period, subject to compliance with all league requirements and return-to-play provisions established by the MIHL Board of Governors.

The MIHL continues preparations for the 2026-27 season and remains committed to providing a competitive and stable environment for its member teams, players, and fans.

Additional information regarding the 2026-27 MIHL season will be announced in the coming weeks.
