MIHL Approves Fraser Falcons for 2026-27 Season
(St. Louis, MI) – June 15, 2026 – The Michigan Independence Hockey League (MIHL) is proud to announce the approval of the Fraser Falcons as a member club for the 2026-27 season, bringing back one of the most recognizable names in Michigan hockey history.
The Fraser area has long been associated with the Falcons name, dating back to teams that competed in the North American Hockey League (NAHL) and later in the Colonial Hockey League during the early 1990's. The return of the Falcons marks another chapter in a rich hockey tradition that has been a part of the Fraser community for decades.
The team will call Big Boy Arena home after reaching a lease agreement that covers both the 2026-27 and 2027-28 seasons. The facility has hosted numerous high-level hockey programs throughout its history and provides a strong foundation for the organization's future growth.
MIHL Commissioner Scott Brand expressed his excitement about welcoming the Falcons to the league.
"Big Boy Arena has been home to several historic hockey teams over the years, and we are excited to help maintain a competitive hockey presence at Big Boy Arena," said Brand. "The ownership group has already secured several key sponsors and generated significant interest from players throughout the region. Brittany and her staff are committed to building a first-class organization, and we look forward to the Falcons becoming a strong partner within the MIHL."
Owner Brittany Bjornholm: "We are excited to be part of the upcoming season and honored to bring the Falcons name back to the Fraser community. Our mission is to provide affordable, family-friendly entertainment while making a positive impact throughout Fraser and the surrounding communities. We are committed to building a team our fans can be proud of, maintaining a championship standard at Big Boy Arena, and creating an unforgettable experience both on and off the ice. We can't wait for puck drop and the opportunity to take flight with our fans this season. Let's Falcon Go!"
The addition of the Fraser Falcons continues the MIHL's strategic growth and commitment to providing competitive semi-professional hockey opportunities throughout Michigan and the surrounding region. Additional information regarding team personnel, season schedules, and ticket information will be announced by the organization in the coming weeks.
